Ways to make creating estimates and developing prices easier

  1. Determine your hourly rate
  2. Create a list of how many hours you need to complete each task
  3. Save these lists and track your time as you work, to make the next estimate easier

Giving Prices to client

I would recommend giving your clients a flat rate rather than an hour estimate and an hourly rate

If you choose to do it this way you should make sure to give your client a detailed list of what you are providing for them and then give the price.

Personal Projects: Book Design

Book Design In a previous post I talked about personal projects and why they are important. I just started a new personal project that I have found extremely relaxing and fun. I am a book junkie, I love reading. I love books of all different genres and topics, when I find a good book I can't put it down. When I was brainstorming different personal project ideas it seemed obvious that books should fall on the list somewhere. While trying to evolve this idea to design something including books the first thought was of course the cover and the layout on the inside, but I quickly felt skeptical about this idea because of the amount of time it would take to read the book and the amount of time that it would take for me to design the entire thing. After coming up with ideas and quickly dismissing them for about an hour I finally landed on my final project objective. Index Card Challenge

Index Card Challenge The index card challenge is a popular design/art challenge that can help improve illustrating skills, creative development, and can be nice break from working on the computer. I developed my own personal index card challenge where I randomly select a subject, a color, a shape, and a design challenge. I use these to design and create my index card.
